January is a wonderful time to reflect on the year ahead. Each year around this time, I take a few moments to think about my travel goals and aspirations. Whether it’s planning a future trip, adjusting existing plans, or simply researching new adventures, January provides the perfect opportunity to revisit travel dreams. Here are some of the top destinations and experiences on my bucket list for 2025.
1) Fly Qsuite (and Explore Qatar)
Qsuite by Qatar Airways is widely regarded as one of the best business-class experiences available today. I’m thrilled to have a flight booked from Toronto (YYZ) to Doha, giving me over 12 hours to fully explore and enjoy the world-renowned service, innovative cabin layout, and luxurious amenities.
I’ve been fortunate to fly business class on several airlines, including Air Canada, Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian, Singapore, Asiana, and Emirates. So far, Emirates has been my favorite—there’s something magical about socializing at the bar in the back of the A380. Singapore Airlines offers superior seat comfort, but I’m curious to see if Qatar’s Qsuite will set a new standard.

During my stopover in Doha, I plan to explore the city’s vibrant culture and modern architecture. I’ve heard it’s reminiscent of Dubai, with luxury malls, souks, and dazzling skyscrapers—but with its own unique flair. I’m excited to discover more of this fascinating destination, from the stunning Museum of Islamic Art to the traditional market atmosphere of Souq Waqif.
2) Greek Island Hopping by Ferry
A few years ago, I had the pleasure of visiting Crete and thoroughly enjoyed my short stay. The relaxed Greek culture, delicious food, and beautiful landscapes left a lasting impression. I can still taste the gyros and fresh seafood! Ever since, I’ve been dreaming of returning to Greece.

This time, instead of flying directly into Crete, I’m planning the full island-hopping experience using the Greek ferry system. Starting in Athens, I’ll explore lesser-known islands as well as popular ones like Mykonos and Santorini. The adventure promises breathtaking coastal views, charming villages, and warm hospitality. I also look forward to sampling more local delicacies—from freshly caught octopus to moussaka—while taking in the history and charm of ancient Greek ruins along the way.

3) Continue Building My Collection of Stays at Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, and JW Marriott Hotels
I have a long-term bucket list goal to stay at every Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, and JW Marriott around the world. Currently, there are 34 Waldorf Astorias, 44 Conrads, and 121 JW Marriotts. These luxury brands are among my favorites, offering exceptional service and unique experiences.

Each year, I aim to cross a few more properties off my list, and 2025 will be no different. I just started this quest a few years ago and am only a little over 10% of the way complete, so there are plenty more experiences to be had. I love how collecting these stays combines my passion for travel with my appreciation for luxurious hospitality—and provides a reason to visit new destinations around the globe!
4) Visit the Matterhorn
Although I’ve been to Switzerland several times, my travels have mostly centered around Zurich. This year, I want to venture deeper into the Swiss Alps—specifically to Zermatt, home to the iconic Matterhorn.

The Matterhorn’s dramatic peak is one of the most photographed mountains in the world, and I’m eager to experience its beauty up close. Hiking and soaking in the alpine scenery will surely be a highlight of the year—and the exercise will help balance out all those restaurant meals! I’m particularly excited about riding the Gornergrat Railway, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. Additionally, sampling Swiss chocolate and fondue in a mountain chalet sounds like the perfect way to end a day of mountain exploration.
5) Tailgating at an NFL Game with My Son
Few experiences capture the spirit of American football like a pre-game tailgate, and I’ve always wanted to share this tradition with my sports-loving son. He’s passionate about both playing and watching football, making it the perfect father-son adventure.
While living near Buffalo makes attending a Bills game convenient, I’m tempted to turn this into a road trip. Green Bay’s legendary Lambeau Field, Cleveland’s Dawg Pound, Philadelphia’s famously passionate crowd, or even Seattle’s roaring 12th Man are all exciting possibilities. With points and miles at our disposal, we can choose the perfect last-minute destination and make memories that will last a lifetime. Meeting enthusiastic fans, and feeling the energy as the game begins is a bucket-list-worthy experience I can’t wait to share with my son.
Summary
These are just a few of the travel experiences I’m looking forward to in 2025. What destinations are on your bucket list this year? I’d love to hear about them in the comments. Here’s to making 2025 a year of unforgettable travel adventures!
